Spontaneous Pneumothorax in the setting of coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) has been rarely described and is a potentially lethal complication. We report our institutional experience. Patients with confirmed COVID-19 who were admitted at 5 hospitals within the Inova health system between February 21 and May 2020 were included in the study. We identified 1619 patients, 22 patients (1.4%) developed spontaneous pneumothorax during their hospitalization without evidence of traumatic injury.

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) has been associated with various behavioral risk factors such as tobacco, alcohol, and/or substances abuse. ⋯ TUD and SUD among AF hospitalizations in the United States mainly affects males, younger individuals, white more than black, and those of lower socioeconomic status which demands for the development of preventive strategies to address multilevel influences.

The evidence for the safety of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) in acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) patients is conflicting. ⋯ For AECOPD patients, low-quality evidence indicates that HFNC does not increase intubation and mortality risks compared to NIV.

Clinical outcomes of pleural drainage on pneumothorax and hydrothorax in critically ill patients with COVID-19: A case series with literature review.
For patients with COVID-19, pneumothorax and hydrothorax are suggested to be negative prognostic indicators. However, the management of these two conditions has rarely been discussed. We aimed to describe the clinical outcomes of pleural drainage in critically ill patients with COVID-19. ⋯ For critically ill patients with COVID-19, pleural drainage leads to a significant improvement in oxygenation and gas exchange, but the deterioration of circulation is not reversed. It is safe to perform pleural drainage even though anticoagulation therapy and glucocorticoids are widely used. Chest tubes rather than CVCs are recommended.

The Caregiver Contribution to Heart Failure Self-Care (CACHS) is a Canadian instrument that assesses caregivers' (CGs) contributions to heart failure (HF) patients' self-care, but a Brazilian version was lacking. ⋯ CACHS-Br is equivalent to the original version and provided satisfactory evidence of content validity. Further psychometric testing of this version should allow for the measurement of the CG contributions to HF self-care in Brazil.
