Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyEffects of polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids on responsiveness to dual antiplatelet therapy in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention: the OMEGA-PCI (OMEGA-3 fatty acids after pci to modify responsiveness to dual antiplatelet therapy) study.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are able to modify platelet responsiveness to dual antiplatelet therapy in stable coronary artery disease patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). ⋯ The addition of omega-3 ethyl esters to the combination of aspirin and clopidogrel significantly potentiates platelet response to clopidogrel after percutaneous coronary intervention.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study Clinical TrialThe dynamic nature of coronary artery lesion morphology assessed by serial virtual histology intravascular ultrasound tissue characterization.
We used virtual histology intravascular ultrasound (VH-IVUS) to investigate the natural history of coronary artery lesion morphology. ⋯ Most VH-TCFAs healed during 12-month follow-up, whereas new VH-TCFAs also developed. PITs, VH-TCFAs, and ThCFAs showed significant plaque progression compared with fibrous and fibrocalcific plaque.

Clinical TrialRisk and fate of cerebral embolism after transfemoral aortic valve implantation: a prospective pilot study with diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging.
The aim of this study was prospective investigation of silent and clinically apparent cerebral embolic events and neurological impairment after transfemoral aortic valve implantation (TAVI). ⋯ The incidence of clinically silent peri-interventional cerebral embolic lesions after TAVI is high. However, in this cohort of 30 patients, the incidence of persistent neurological impairment was low.
