Randomized Controlled TrialFavorable effects of inhaled treprostinil in severe pulmonary hypertension: results from randomized controlled pilot studies.
This study sought to investigate the effects of inhaled treprostinil on pulmonary hemodynamics and gas exchange in severe pulmonary hypertension. ⋯ Inhaled treprostinil exerts sustained pulmonary vasodilation with excellent tolerability at relatively low doses and may be inhaled in a few breaths.

Clinical TrialSafety and efficacy of inhaled treprostinil as add-on therapy to bosentan in pulmonary arterial hypertension.
This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of inhaled treprostinil as add-on therapy to oral bosentan in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). ⋯ This trial suggests that inhaled treprostinil is safe, well tolerated, and associated with significant improvements in exercise capacity, functional class, and pulmonary hemodynamics in symptomatic patients with PAH on bosentan.

Clinical TrialIntravenous iron alone for the treatment of anemia in patients with chronic heart failure.
This study was undertaken to assess the hematologic, clinical, and biochemical response to intravenous iron in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and anemia. ⋯ Intravenous iron sucrose, when used without concomitant EPO, is a simple and safe therapy that increases Hb, reduces symptoms, and improves exercise capacity in anemic patients with CHF. Further assessment of its efficacy should be made in a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled trial.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyRenal toxicity evaluation and comparison between visipaque (iodixanol) and hexabrix (ioxaglate) in patients with renal insufficiency undergoing coronary angiography: the RECOVER study: a randomized controlled trial.
This study sought to compare the nephrotoxicity of iodixanol and ioxaglate in patients with renal impairment undergoing coronary angiography. ⋯ The IOCM iodixanol was significantly less nephrotoxic than ioxaglate, an ionic, dimeric LOCM. (The RECOVER Trial; http://clinicaltrials.gov; NCT00247325).

Corrected QT variability in serial electrocardiograms in long QT syndrome: the importance of the maximum corrected QT for risk stratification.
We evaluated the incremental prognostic information provided by multiple corrected QT (QTc) measurements on serial electrocardiograms (ECGs) in patients with the inherited long QT syndrome (LQTS). ⋯ In LQTS patients, there is a considerable variability in QTc measures in serial follow-up ECGs. The maximum QTc interval provides incremental prognostic information beyond the baseline measurement. We suggest that risk stratification in LQTS patients should include follow-up ECG data.
