Immediate effects of lung transplantation on right ventricular morphology and function in patients with variable degrees of pulmonary hypertension.
This study sought to determine the immediate effects of lung transplantation on right ventricular morphology and function in patients with variable degrees of pulmonary hypertension and to evaluate these features as potential markers of immediate outcome. ⋯ Lung transplantation is associated with an immediate decrease in pulmonary artery pressures and right ventricular size and normalization of septal geometry but variable changes in right ventricular function. Continued depression of right ventricular fractional area change may be a potential marker of poor outcome.

Case ReportsFamilial cardiomyopathy underlies syndrome of right bundle branch block, ST segment elevation and sudden death.
We sought to assess whether structural heart disease underlies the syndrome of right bundle branch block, persistent ST segment elevation and sudden death. ⋯ An autosomal dominant familial cardiomyopathy, mainly involving the right ventricle and the conduction system, accounted for the ECG changes and the electrical instability of the syndrome.

Comparative StudyA new Doppler method for quantification of volumetric flow: in vivo validation using color Doppler.
This study was designed to assess the accuracy of a new Doppler method for quantification of volumetric flow in vivo. ⋯ The method showed close agreement with thermodilution and MRI for assessment of volumetric flow in vivo. It is therefore a noninvasive method with potential applications for cardiac output measurement and for quantification of volumetric flow of valvular insufficiency and restrictive lesions.
