Global change of surgical and oncological clinical practice in urology during early COVID-19 pandemic.
While the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic captures healthcare resources worldwide, data on the impact of prioritization strategies in urology during pandemic are absent. We aimed to quantitatively assess the global change in surgical and oncological clinical practice in the early COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ The COVID-19 pandemic has affected clinical practice of 93% of urologists worldwide. The impact of implementing surgical prioritization protocols with moderate cancellation rates for oncological surgeries and delay or reduction in (neo)adjuvant/palliative treatment will have to be evaluated after the pandemic.

Meta AnalysisA systematic review and meta-analysis of the safety and efficacy of endoscopic enucleation and non-enucleation procedures for benign prostatic enlargement.
This study aims to evaluate safety and efficacy of different endoscopic enucleation of the prostate (EEP) techniques, by comparing laser (L-EEP) and non-laser (NL-EEP) procedures; and EEP versus other endoscopic non-enucleation (ENE) surgeries for benign prostatic enlargement (BPE). ⋯ EEP and ENE are effective and safe for treating BPE. Perioperative data favors EEP. Statistical differences, with questionable clinical significance in functional outcomes and complication rates were encountered. L-EEP provides greater tissue removal and smaller Hb decrease then NL-EEP, with similar functional profiles.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyMetabolic changes with degarelix vs leuprolide plus bicalutamide in patients with prostate cancer: a randomized clinical study.
In a mouse model, degarelix generated the least metabolic consequences via low follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels compared with orchiectomy and leuprolide after 4 months of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). Here, we comparatively investigated the influence of ADT with degarelix or leuprolide on the development of metabolic syndrome in patients with prostate cancer (PCa). ⋯ Lipid and glucose metabolism did not differ significantly between the arms, while FSH levels were significantly lower in the degarelix arm.

ReviewA systematic review on COVID-19: urological manifestations, viral RNA detection and special considerations in urological conditions.
We performed a systematic review on COVID-19 and its potential urological manifestations. ⋯ Acute kidney injury leading to mortality is common amongst COVID-19 patients, likely as a result of direct viral toxicity. Viral RNA positivity was detected in both urine and stool samples, so precautions are needed when we perform transurethral or transrectal procedures.

Determinants and prognostic value of post-operative maximum urethral closure pressure after artificial urinary sphincter in men.
To evaluate the determinants and prognostic value of post-operative maximum urethral closure pressure (MUCP) after AUS implantation in male patients. ⋯ The MUCP after AUS implantation in male patients often differs from the manufacturer's pressure objective. The postoperative c-MUCP might be significantly associated with functional outcomes suggesting that it might be a valuable tool for treatment decision-making. This should be confirmed by larger studies.
