Comparison of efficacy dimenhydrinate and metoclopramide in the treatment of nausea due to vertigo; a randomized study.
This study aimed to compare the therapeutic efficacy of dimenhydrinate and metoclopramide in patients with nausea and vertigo. ⋯ In conclusion, this prospective, double-blind, randomized study showed that both DMT and MTP have similar efficacy in reducing nausea and vertigo symptoms in the ED.

Associations between initial serum pH value and outcomes of pediatric out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
Pediatric out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is one of the most critical conditions seen in the emergency department (ED). Although initial serum pH value is reported to be associated with outcome in adult OHCA patients, the association is unclear in pediatric OHCA patients. Thus, we aimed to identify the association between initial pH value and outcome among pediatric OHCA patients. ⋯ This study demonstrated the association between the initial pH value on hospital arrival and 1-month survival among pediatric OHCA patients.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a novel virus responsible for causing the novel coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19). ⋯ COVID-19 is a potentially deadly infection, but data are limited concerning the pregnant population. Pregnant patients appear to present similarly to the general population, with fever and cough being the most reported symptoms in studies. Knowledge of these presentations and outcomes can assist clinicians caring for these patients.

Minoxidil is an antihypertensive that works by directly dilating peripheral vessels. This medication is typically reserved for patients with resistant hypertension, whose blood pressure remains above goal despite being on multiple agents. A rare but potentially dangerous side effect of Minoxidil is drug-induced pericardial effusion. Here we report a case of a patient who was taking Minoxidil and subsequently developed a large pericardial effusion, with concerns for impending cardiac tamponade.

Timely defibrillation is associated with increased survival in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) cases. This study aimed to determine whether the time to first defibrillation was associated with good neurological outcomes in OHCA patients with refractory ventricular fibrillation. ⋯ A short time from collapse to first defibrillation was associated with good neurological recovery among patients with OHCA and refractory ventricular fibrillation. This result suggests that a failed first shock still has a positive effect if it is delivered quickly.
