The objective of our research is to evaluate and compare the performance of ChatGPT, Google Bard, and medical students in performing START triage during mass casualty situations. ⋯ Google Bard was found to be superior to ChatGPT in correctly performing mass casualty incident triage. Google Bard achieved an accuracy of 60%, while chatGPT only achieved an accuracy of 26.67%. This difference was statistically significant (p = 0.002).

Elevated intracranial pressure (ICP) is defined as a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) opening pressure (OP) greater than 25 cmH2O. When a diagnostic lumbar puncture is performed it is useful to estimate also intracranial pressure. To do this it is required a presence of pressure gauges, which are currently the gold standard, not available in most resource-constrained contexts. ⋯ Analysis through ANOVA documented an F of 355.301 with p < 0.01 and Dubin Watson of 1.642. The analysis through ROC showed an AUC of 0.980, with a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 91% if chosen as a limit, 29 drops in 30 seconds (Youden Index of 0.9140). Therefore, we have concluded, that although there are several precautions, like patient's position, it is technically feasible to indirectly estimate cerebrospinal fluid pressure with good accuracy by counting the drops of cerebrospinal fluid flowing from a 22 G spinal needle.

A Trauma Team Activation (TTA) is initiated when a patient has sustained a life or limb-threatening injury thereby necessitating resources of a large care team. Previously, a CT scanner was cleared at the time of the prehospital TTA call. Wide variability in the time it took to stabilize patients often led to extended CT scanner idle time. A new policy was developed whereby the team leader would prompt the ED clerk to provide a '5-min heads-up' (5-min HU) notification to the CT scanner personnel as a patient was stabilized. At this point, the CT scanner was cleared. The purpose of this quality improvement project is to evaluate if the new policy saves CT scanner idle time. ⋯ These data support the implementation of a 5-min HU policy in the ED for patients arriving as TTAs. This maximizes the availability of CT scanners for other patients in the ED while TTA patients are being stabilized.

Acute bronchiolitis (AB) is the most common lower respiratory tract infection in infants. Objective scoring tools and plain film radiography have limited application, thus diagnosis is clinical. The role of point-of-care lung ultrasound (LUS) is not well established. ⋯ Higher LUS scores for AB were associated with increased respiratory support, longer LOS, and more acute disposition. The use of bedside LUS in the ED may assist the clinician in the management and disposition of patient's diagnosed with AB.

Gastroparesis is a syndrome of delayed gastric emptying without obstruction. There are high rates of Emergency Department (ED) visits due to gastroparesis, and this chronic disease is difficult to treat which often leads to hospital admissions. This study aimed to evaluate the impact droperidol administration has on opioid therapy, symptom relief, co-administration of antiemetic and prokinetic medications, disposition, cost, and length of stay (LOS) of patients presenting to the ED. ⋯ In patients with gastroparesis presenting to the ED, droperidol reduced opioid use, improved pain control, and decreased antiemetic use without any differences in MME per dose, length of stay, hospital admission rate, or cost.
