Observational Study
Geographical information systems for mapping maternal ground transport to level III care neonatal centers.
The objective of this investigation was to determine maternal ground transport times from community hospitals to the nearest hospital offering comprehensive (level III) neonatal care within the contiguous United States. ⋯ GIS mapping enables health providers and health policy makers to better understand maternal ground transport times to current and future regional hospitals offering level III neonatal services.

Effective neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) requires 3:1 coordinated manual inflations (MI) and chest compressions (CC). We hypothesized that playing a musical prompt would help coordinate CC and MI during CPR. ⋯ Listening to an auditory prompt improved compliance with the recommended delivery rates of CC and MI during neonatal CPR.

Our aims are to determine whether the urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (uNGAL) can predict acute kidney injury (AKI) development in nonseptic and nonasphyxiated but critically ill preterm infants. ⋯ uNGAL can be useful as a predictive marker of AKI in nonseptic and nonasphyxiated but critically ill preterm infants.

Neutrophil CD64 with hematologic criteria for diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.
To assess the sensitivity and specificity of neutrophil CD64 as a diagnostic marker for clinical sepsis (based on a hematologic score) and as an additional marker with hematologic parameters for culture-proven sepsis in neonates. ⋯ We conclude that neutrophil CD64 index can be incorporated with specific hematologic criteria as an additional marker for diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.

To determine if the rates of recurrent spontaneous preterm birth in women receiving 17α-hydroxyprogesterone caproate (17P) differ according to maternal race. ⋯ Despite treatment with 17P, African-American women have higher rates of recurrent preterm birth.
