To examine rural men's use and perceptions of mobile and wireless devices to self-monitor eating and physical activity (mHealth). ⋯ FitBit One® and text messaging were perceived as useful among the rural men, while the companion apps require adaptation to reflect dietary norms.

Comparative StudyNonurgent Emergency Department Visits by Insured and Uninsured Adults.
To compare nonurgent emergency department (ED) visits by insured and uninsured adults in a Midwest community. ⋯ Nonurgent ED visits occur when more appropriate options for prompt care are available in the community. Interventions should target both patients and PCPs. While patients should contact their PCP when in need of prompt care, PCPs should refer patients to facilities other than the ED when medically appropriate.

U.S. Public Health Service Response to the 2014-2015 Ebola Epidemic in West Africa: A Nursing Perspective.
The 2014-2015 Ebola epidemic in West Africa has been the deadliest Ebola epidemic to date. In response to this deadly epidemic, the U. ⋯ Commissioned Corps nurses provided the highest level of care under the most austere conditions. This article discusses the training, ethical dilemmas, and constant risk for potential exposure while working in an Ebola Treatment Unit.

Adaptation of a best practice guideline to strengthen client-centered care in public health.
Best practice guidelines (BPGs) were developed by the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) to support evidence-based nursing practice. One Ontario public health unit chose to implement the BPG on client-centered care (CCC). ⋯ The purpose of this article is to describe the process of adapting the CCC BPG to more accurately reflect the broad scope of public health nursing practice. A model for CCC in public health nursing context is presented and processes for implementing, evaluating, and sustaining CCC are described.

Factors associated with smokeless tobacco use and dual use among blue collar workers.
To examine demographic and substance use factors associated with exclusive smokeless tobacco use (SLT) and dual use of both cigarettes and SLT among blue-collar workers. ⋯ Rates of SLT use and dual use are high among U.S. blue-collar workers, indicating a need for targeted, workplace cessation interventions. These interventions may also serve as a gateway for addressing other substance use behaviors in this population.
