To mitigate artifacts from through-plane flow at the locations of steady-state stopbands in balanced steady-state free precession (SSFP) using partial dephasing. ⋯ Partial dephasing can mitigate the flow artifacts seen at the stopbands in balanced SSFP while maintaining the sequence's desired signal. By mitigating hyper-enhancement and transient-related artifacts originating from the stopbands, partial dephasing facilitates robust multiple-acquisition phase-cycled SSFP in the heart. Phase processing impacts the accuracy of quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM). Techniques for phase unwrapping and background removal have been proposed and demonstrated mostly in brain. In this work, phase processing was evaluated in the context of large susceptibility variations (Δχ) and negligible signal, in particular for susceptibility estimation using the iterative phase replacement (IPR) algorithm. ⋯ Results suggest that quality-guided unwrapping should be preferred, with PDF or LBV for background removal, for QSM in regions with large Δχ and negligible signal. This reduces the susceptibility inaccuracy introduced by phase processing. Accurate background removal remains an open question. Motion robust high resolution 3D free-breathing pulmonary MRI using dynamic 3D image self-navigator.
To achieve motion robust high resolution 3D free-breathing pulmonary MRI utilizing a novel dynamic 3D image navigator derived directly from imaging data. ⋯ An optimized 3D UTE sequence combined with the proposed reconstruction methods can provide high-resolution motion robust pulmonary MRI. Feasibility was shown in patients who had irregular breathing patterns in which our approach could depict clinically relevant pulmonary pathologies. In this study, we propose a rapid acquisition for MR-based attenuation correction (MRAC) in positron emission tomography (PET)/MR imaging, in which an ultrashort echo time (UTE) image and an out-of-phase echo image are obtained within a single rapid scan (35 s) at high spatial resolution (1 mm3 ), which allows accurate estimation of a pseudo CT image using 4-class tissue classification (discrete bone, discrete air, continuous fat, and continuous water). ⋯ Dual-echo ramped hybrid encoding enables rapid and robust imaging for MRAC with a very rapid acquisition.
