To demonstrate that fluid and white matter suppression (FLAWS) imaging can be used for high-resolution T1 mapping with low transmitted bias field ( B 1 + ) sensitivity at 7T. ⋯ The results from this study suggest that FLAWS is a good candidate for high-resolution T1 -weighted imaging and T1 mapping at the field strength of 7T.

To compare cortical gray matter oxygen extraction fraction (OEF) estimated from 2 MRI methods: (1) the quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) plus quantitative blood oxygen level dependent imaging (qBOLD) (QSM+qBOLD or QQ), and (2) the dual-gas calibrated-BOLD (DGCB) in healthy subjects; and to investigate the validity of iso-cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen consumption assumption during hypercapnia using QQ. ⋯ The differences in OEF obtained from QQ and DGCB are small and nonsignificant at baseline but are statistically significant during hypercapnia. In addition, QQ shows a cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen consumption decrease (17.4%) during hypercapnia.

To present the results of the first human spinal cord in vivo MRI scans at 9.4T. ⋯ The proposed human brain coil can be used to image the spinal cord. The maximum in-plane resolution in this work was higher compared with the 7T results from the literature. The 9.4T acquisitions made the small structures of the spinal cord clearly visible.

To propose a motion-robust chemical shift-encoded (CSE) method with high signal-to-noise (SNR) for accurate quantification of liver proton density fat fraction (PDFF) and R 2 ∗ . ⋯ 2D CSE-NLM enables accurate mapping of PDFF and R 2 ∗ in the liver during free-breathing.

This work investigates the effects of flow acceleration in the superior sagittal sinus on slice-dependent variations in venous oxygen saturation (SvO2 ) estimations using susceptibility-based MR oximetry. ⋯ Slice-dependent variations in SvO2 may partly be explained by the effects of flow acceleration. Our method may enable conventional 3D multiple gradient echo to be used for SvO2 estimations in the presence of pulsatile flow.
