Manual punch versus power harvesting of osteochondral grafts.
The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect on chondrocyte viability of 2 existing methods of harvesting osteochondral grafts used for articular cartilage resurfacing. ⋯ This study shows that the original method (power trephine) of harvesting osteochondral grafts results in great loss of chondrocyte viability versus manual punch harvesting and should no longer be used.

Comparative Study
A biomechanical comparison of three lower extremity tendons for ligamentous reconstruction about the knee.
The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate 3 previously unreported allograft tendons for use in knee surgery. These are the doubled tibialis anterior (TA), doubled tibialis posterior (TP), and doubled peroneus longus (PL) tendons. ⋯ The TA, TP, and PL tendons showed excellent biomechanical properties when compared with historical data evaluating other graft sources. The biomechanical properties observed for the TA, TP, and PL were noted in specimens despite an average age of 78.3 years.

Our aim was to determine the outcome of arthroscopic-assisted reduction with bilateral buttress plate fixation for the treatment of closed complex tibial plateau fractures. ⋯ Arthroscopic-assisted reduction with bilateral buttress plate fixation for complex tibial plateau fractures allows accurate fracture reduction, diagnosis, and treatment of associated intra-articular lesions, and less dissection than open reduction internal fixation.
