Case ReportsPediatric Acute Ischemic Cerebral Vascular Accidents: A Case Report.
An 8-year-old girl presented to the pediatric emergency department (ED) with left-sided weakness. Workup consisted of labs and imaging including magnetic resonance imaging showing an acute ischemic stroke. ⋯ Current recommendations include treatment with unfractionated heparin or low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) with subsequent daily aspirin prophylaxis. Further large scale studies are needed to produce protocols and generalizable treatment plans.
