Process Management of Intussusception in Children: A Retrospective Analysis in China.
This was a retrospective analysis of the epidemiological features of pediatric intussusception, the effects of different management strategies and the factors affecting successful reduction. ⋯ Pediatric intussusception in our region showed a sex ratio difference and age difference of onset. For single intussusceptions and multiple intussusceptions, the successful reduction rate of cleansing enemas means that some children may avoid radiation exposure. The diameter and length of intussusception were related factors influencing successful reduction in cleansing enema. There were no significant differences in successful reduction between air enemas and B-USGHE. Most recurrent intussusceptions can still be reduced, avoiding surgery.

Pediatric Fracture Epidemiology and US Emergency Department Resource Utilization.
Fractures are common childhood injuries that result in emergency department (ED) visits. National trends in pediatric fracture epidemiology and resource utilization are not well described. Our objective is to analyze national trends in pediatric fracture epidemiology, ED disposition, and ED resource utilization from 2010 to 2015. ⋯ The national incidence rate of pediatric fractures decreased slightly. Emergency department resource utilization increased over time. With high national volume, understanding pediatric fracture epidemiology and resource utilization is important to the health care system.

Pediatric Softball Injuries Presenting to Emergency Departments.
This study sought to characterize the mechanisms of injury responsible for common softball-related injuries in recent years. ⋯ Being hit by the ball was the most common mechanism of injury, especially in the head/neck region, and shoulder/elbow injuries increase with athlete age. Coaches and leagues may consider mandating helmets for infielders and pitch counts for pitchers, especially among adolescent athletes.

Racial Disparities in the Emergency Department Evaluation of Adolescent Girls.
Racial disparities and differences exist in emergency care. Obtaining a sexual history is standard of care for adolescents with abdominal pain. Testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and pregnancy should be based on historical findings. The objective of this study was to determine whether differential care was provided to adolescent female patients with abdominal pain based on patient race or healthcare provider characteristics by evaluating the documentation of sexual history, STI testing, and pregnancy testing. ⋯ Differential care was provided to non-White adolescents with abdominal pain compared with White adolescents. They were more likely to have a documented sexual history, STI testing, and pregnancy testing. Healthcare provider characteristics did not impact patient care. This racial disparity resulted in better medical care for non-White adolescents, but this may be the consequence of underlying implicit bias.
