Multicenter StudyUsability Testing Via Simulation: Optimizing the NEAR4PEM Preintubation Checklist With a Human Factors Approach.
To inform development of a preintubation checklist for pediatric emergency departments via multicenter usability testing of a prototype checklist. ⋯ Simulation-based, human factors usability testing of the National Emergency Airway Registry for Pediatric Emergency Medicine Preintubation Checklist allowed optimization prior to clinical implementation. Next steps involve integration into real-world settings utilizing rigorous implementation science strategies, with concurrent evaluation of the impact on patient outcomes and safety.

POCUS for Infectious Enteritis-A Retrospective Case Series Analysis.
The abdominal pain associated with diarrhea can be difficult to distinguish from appendicitis. We present a case series of all children found on pediatric emergency department point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to have right-sided bowel wall edema. ⋯ Enteritis can initially be difficult to distinguish on clinical grounds from acute appendicitis. Bowel wall edema on POCUS in a child without sonographic signs of appendicitis strongly suggests bacterial enteritis. Early POCUS demonstrating enteritis without signs of appendicitis may decrease hospital resource usage.

Myocarditis-A Helpful Algorithm to Overcome Diagnostic Challenges in the Pediatric Population.
This study was designed to investigate clinical differences between pediatric patients who presented with chest pain, tachycardia, and/or tachypnea who subsequently were or were not diagnosed with myocarditis. The results were used to develop a decision tree to aid in rapid diagnosis of pediatric myocarditis. ⋯ The clinical and laboratory characteristics described in this study were similar to what is described in the literature. The decision tree may aid in the diagnosis of myocarditis in patients 2.5 years and younger. In the population aged 2.5 to 18 years, the decision tree did not constitute an adequate tool for detecting myocarditis.

Multicenter StudyAvailability of Pediatric Services and Equipment in Emergency Departments: A Multicenter Study in Resource-Limited Settings.
This study was conducted to assess the availability of equipment and supplies in the emergency departments of the hospitals in the West Bank of Palestine. ⋯ Decision and policymakers might use the findings reported in this study to allocate resources to restock and increase the availability of pediatric emergency equipment and supplies. More studies are still needed to compare the outcomes of patients before and after restocking and increasing the availability of pediatric emergency equipment and supplies.

ReviewExtracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation: CME Review.
Extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (eCPR) is increasingly being used for refractory cardiac arrest for both in-hospital and out-of-hospital cardiac arrests. The term eCPR refers to cannulating a patient to an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) circuit to provide perfusion after cardiac arrest refractory to standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation. ⋯ To develop an eCPR system of care, a multidisciplinary team consisting of prehospital, emergency medicine, in-hospital, proceduralist, perfusionist, and intensive care medical professionals must be established who support the use of eCPR for refractory cardiac arrest. The future of eCPR is the development of systems of care that use eCPR for a narrow subset of pediatric out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.
