Comparative StudyPredicting the development of anemia by measuring the diameter of the inferior vena cava for children with blunt injuries.
We retrospectively investigated whether or not the measurement of the diameter of the inferior vena cava (IVC) was useful for predicting the development of anemia. ⋯ To predict the development of anemia, the measurement of the IVC for blunt-injured children may be a useful modality.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyPediatric emergency care in europe: a descriptive survey of 53 tertiary medical centers.
To examine determinants of quality of care provided by pediatric emergency departments (PEDs) in tertiary European centers. ⋯ According to this pilot study, the basic services provided by tertiary PEDs in Europe appear to be appropriate. Physicians training level and staffing may not be adequate to achieve optimal patient outcome.
