Effect of pre-administration with aminophylline on the occurrence of post-dural puncture headache in women undergoing caesarean section by combined spinal-epidural anaesthesia.
To investigate the effect of the pre-administration with aminophylline on the occurrence of post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) in women undergoing caesarean section by combined spinal-epidural anaesthesia (CSEA). ⋯ Intraoperative intravenous infusion of 250 mg aminophylline reduced the incidence of PDPH after caesarean section under CSEA with no side-effects.

To investigate the relationship between health insurance status and outcomes of septic acute kidney injury (AKI) related hospitalizations in an intensive care unit (ICU) in Ningbo, China. ⋯ Uninsured patients with septic AKI were younger, stayed a shorter time in ICU, had higher illness severity scores and a higher ICU mortality than insured patients. Importantly a major risk factor for ICU mortality in this group was lack of insurance.

This study was performed to assess whether prophylactic uterine artery embolization (UAE) is beneficial for second-trimester abortion with complete placenta previa (CPP). ⋯ Prophylactic UAE did not markedly improve the outcomes of second-trimester abortion in patients with CPP. Conversely, it may increase the risk of complications and prolong the hospital stay.

Analgesic effect of preoperative dezocine-based local anesthesia in patients undergoing inguinal hernia repair.
This study was performed to investigate the analgesic effects of intramuscular injection of dezocine-based local anesthesia in patients undergoing inguinal hernia repair. ⋯ Dezocine-based local anesthesia can attenuate postoperative pain and increase the comfort level during and after herniorrhaphy.

Chronic inflammation of the arteries is a critical mechanism responsible for coronary atherosclerosis. We aimed to determine if tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-like cytokine 1A (TL1A) and decoy receptor 3 (DcR3) were involved in promoting atherosclerosis. ⋯ CAD patients requiring coronary artery bypass grafting have high circulating levels of both TL1A and DcR3, which may thus be useful biomarkers for diagnosing severe CAD. Furthermore, plasma levels of TL1A correlate with SYNTAX score, supporting its potential use as an indicator of the severity of CAD.
