Case ReportsNecrotizing sialometaplasia in two patients with bulimia and chronic vomiting.
The purpose of this report was to present two unusual cases of necrotizing sialometaplasia of the hard palate, in which the patients were suffering from bulimia and chronic self-induced vomiting. It emphasizes the importance of confirming the diagnosis by incisional biopsy and discusses local mucosal trauma as a possible etiologic factor.

Case Reports"Chain-link" combined tissue transfer for the reconstruction of the mandible.
We describe a procedure for "chain-link" combined tissue transfer connecting the vascular pedicle of a deep circumflex iliac flap with that of a forearm flap after wide resection of the mandible. Combination of these flaps facilitated the reconstruction of the defect in both intra- and extraoral soft tissue and the mandibular bone. This method is useful when cervical recipient blood vessels are limited due to the wide resection of the primary tumor and radical neck dissection.

Otoplasty: a combined approach to different structures of the auricle.
A technique for otoplasty is presented, which combines the advantages of different methods. The procedure includes a dorsal skin excision, a cartilage incision at the border between the concha and scapha, scoring of the crus superior on the anterior side, and if necessary a reduction of the conchal height and modification of the position of the cauda helicis by cartilage excision. The results of the treatment of 526 ears in 312 patients are retrospectively analysed by a patient questionnaire and a chart review.

A retrospective review was conducted of 91 patients with deep neck infections to determine the pattern of clinical disease and formulate a management plan. The spaces involved, as determined by clinical, radiologic, and operative findings, were the peritonsillar space (72 patients), parapharyngeal space (eight patients) submandibular space (seven patients), retropharyngeal space (one patient) superficial space (one patient), anterior visceral space (one patient), and visceral vascular space (one patient). Of the 19 patients who did not have a peritonsillar space infection the origin of the infection was found in eight; four of these were odontogenic. ⋯ One patient with diabetes mellitus and a past history of myocardial infarction died of unknown cause. All other patients had an uneventful recovery without major complications. The combination of early radiologic diagnosis, effective antimicrobial therapy, and intensive surgical management contributed to the good prognosis.

Case ReportsEarly surgical management of invasive gingival aspergillosis in a neutropenic patient with leukemia: a case report.
Primary invasive aspergillosis of the oral cavity is a rare but serious complication in immunocompromised patients. We report a case of gingival Aspergillus infection in a neutropenic patient with acute myelogenous leukemia, who was successfully treated by an early surgical approach in combination with antifungal medication and granulocyte colon stimulating factors.
