Increasing Advance Care Planning Completion at an Academic Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic.
We sought to increase advance care planning (ACP) completion at an academic internal medicine clinic through an electronic health record. ⋯ Implementation of a multi-disciplinary approach can facilitate ACP. However, challenges still arise because in more than half of the cases, advance care efforts led only to a discussion.

Direct care workers in long-term care can develop close relationships with their patients and subsequently experience significant grief after patient death. Consequences of this experience for employment outcomes have received little attention. ⋯ Findings suggest that grief over patient death plays an overlooked role in direct care worker burnout. High supervisor support and caregiving benefits may have protective effects with respect to burnout, whereas high coworker support may constitute a reflection of burnout.

Psychometric properties of the Greek version of the Patient Dignity Inventory in advanced cancer patients.
The patient dignity inventory (PDI) is an instrument to measure dignity distressing aspects at the end of life. ⋯ The Greek version of the PDI showed good psychometric properties in advanced cancer patients, supported the usefulness of the instrument assessing the sense of dignity distressing aspects of the terminally ill cancer patients.

Translation and Psychometric Testing of the Persian Version of the Spiritual Needs Questionnaire among elders with chronic diseases.
Spirituality plays an important role in coping with chronic diseases for patients and they often report unmet spiritual and existential needs, which should be considered for a holistic view of their health. Studying spiritual needs in this generation requires culturally appropriate and valid instruments. The aim of this study is to determine the psychometric properties, such as validity, reliability, and factor structure of the Persian version of Spiritual Needs Questionnaire (SpNQ). ⋯ The SpNQ-PV showed a minor difference in structuring and indicated good psychometric properties, which can be used to assess the spiritual needs of Iranian elders suffering from chronic diseases.

Brief Training on Patient Anger Increases Oncology Providers' Self-Efficacy in Communicating with Angry Patients.
Anger is a common reaction to pain and life-limiting and life-threatening illness, is linked to higher levels of pain, and may disrupt communication with medical providers. Anger is understudied compared with other emotions in mental health and health care contexts, and many providers have limited formal training in addressing anger. ⋯ Providers found the program to be useful for increasing their confidence in addressing patient anger. Discussion, didactics, and experiential exercises can support provider awareness of anger, shape adaptive communication, and foster stress management skills.
