The Acceptability and Feasibility of Using Mortality Prediction Scores for Initiating End-of-Life Goals of Care Communication in the Adult Intensive Care Unit.
Uncertainties in prognosis remain a barrier to end-of-life (EOL) communication in the intensive care unit (ICU), thus strategies are needed for increasing the precision of prognosis and timeliness of EOL goals-of-care communication. Use of mortality prediction scores offers one approach to this issue. ⋯ Use of SOFA scores as a means to potentially increase EOL goals-of-care communication emerged as most beneficial and acceptable to providers with limited ICU experience.
