Association of Hospice Care Services with the Utilisation of Life-sustaining Treatments during End-of-life Care among Cancer Patients: A Nationwide 11-year Cohort Study.
The impact of hospice care services on the utilization of life-sustaining treatments during end-of-life care in terminally ill patients has not been extensively studied. ⋯ Hospice care services were associated with a lower likelihood of receiving life-sustaining treatments during the last three months of life in patients with cancer.

Association between pre-treatment sleep disturbance and radiation therapy-induced pain in 573 women with breast cancer.
Pain can be a debilitating side effect of radiation therapy (RT). Data from the general population have shown that sleep disturbance can influence pain incidence and severity; however, less is known about this relationship in patients with breast cancer receiving RT. ⋯ These findings suggest that moderate/severe disturbed sleep before RT is associated with increased pain from pre-to-post-RT in patients with breast cancer.

Sustainment of innovations in palliative care: a survey on lessons learned from a nationwide quality improvement programme.
Although much is known about factors influencing short-term implementation, little is known about what factors are relevant for the long-term sustainment of innovations. In the Dutch National Quality Improvement Program for Palliative Care, innovations were implemented in 76 implementation projects. ⋯ Applying the six strategies enhances sustainment. The organization plays a decisive role in the sustainment of innovations in palliative care. Engaging the management team in implementation projects from early onset is of utmost importance.

Associations of uncertainty with psychological health and quality of life in older adults with advanced cancer.
Older adults with advanced cancer face uncertainty related to their disease and treatment. ⋯ Uncertainty among older patients with advanced cancer is associated with worse psychological health and QoL. Tailored uncertainty management strategies are warranted.

Racial Disparities in End-of-Life Care between Black and White Adults with Metastatic Cancer.
The comfort of patients with cancer near the end of life (EOL) is often undermined by unnecessary and burdensome treatments. There is a need for more research examining racial disparities in EOL care, especially in regions with a history of racial discrimination. ⋯ Findings have implications for informing health care decision making near the EOL for patients, families, and clinicians, especially in regions with a history of racial discrimination and disparities.
