This study aimed to review the prevalence of the BRAF V600E mutation in pediatric papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and any possible association with aggressive tumor behavior. ⋯ BRAF V600E mutations may be more prevalent than previously thought in pediatric patients with PTC, but do not correlate with aggressive disease characteristics.

Healthcare remunerating agencies in North America require patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) to undergo a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) trial before funding surgical therapy. The adherence rate of CPAP is problematic. This study's objective was to determine the proportion of surgically favorable patients who failed CPAP who subsequently benefitted from surgical therapy, and to explore consideration of surgical therapy as first-line treatment in this specific OSA subpopulation. ⋯ 2 Laryngoscope 124:S1-S9, 2014.

Determine rates and reasons for revisits after adult ambulatory sinonasal surgery. ⋯ There is a nonnegligible revisit rate after ambulatory sinonasal surgery. The most common reasons for revisit include bleeding, but also acute pain and fever/dehydration. These particular complications should be targeted for prevention to reduce postoperative revisit rates.

To assess the feasibility of performing robotic-assisted laryngeal cleft repair in the pediatric population. ⋯ Transoral robotic-assisted laryngeal cleft repair may offer specific advantages over a traditional endoscopic approach. In our experience, the procedure was well tolerated and associated with definitive surgical cure in all patients. The scope of robotic technology continually expands and should be considered a feasible tool at an institution-based level.
