Meta AnalysisEfficacy and safety of direct acting antiviral regimens for hepatitis C virus and human immunodeficiency virus co-infection: systematic review and network meta-analysis.
Various all-oral direct-acting antiviral (DAA) regimens are being widely used in the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/hepatitis C virus (HCV) co-infected patients; however, the comparative efficacy and safety of different types and combinations of DAAs are not completely clear. There is still a lack of integration of evidence for optimized therapies for HIV/HCV co-infection. ⋯ Efficacy and safety of all-oral DAAs were in prospect for HIV/HCV co-infection patients. GZR/EBR ± RBV was the optimal combination recommended for HIV/HCV co-infected patients based on the excellent treatment effects and insignificant adverse events.

Sustained virologic response by direct-acting antivirals suppresses skeletal muscle loss in hepatitis C virus infection.
Although chronic liver disease is associated with secondary sarcopenia, the effect of primary disease treatment (hepatitis C virus elimination) on the skeletal muscle is unclear. This study aimed to determine the effect of a sustained virologic response at 24 weeks following direct-acting antiviral therapy on the skeletal muscle in hepatitis C virus-infected patients. ⋯ Viral eradication by direct-acting antiviral treatment improved the liver function and suppressed skeletal muscle loss in hepatitis C virus-infected patients.

Comparative StudyCost-effectiveness analysis of fecal microbiota transplantation for recurrent Clostridium difficile infection in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients are at risk for recurrent Clostridium difficile infection (RCDI). We aimed to evaluate the potential health economic and clinical outcomes of four strategies for management of RCDI in IBD patients from the perspective of public health-care provider in Hong Kong. ⋯ FMT for IBD patients with RCDI appeared to save both direct medical cost and QALYs when comparing to vancomycin (with or without bezlotoxumab) and fidaxomicin.

Liver stiffness measurement in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: Two is better than one.
Repeating liver stiffness measurement (LSM) was recently reported to improve accuracy to diagnose fibrosis stage in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). There are to date no other studies confirming this finding. This aims to evaluate the accuracy of repeating LSM for the diagnosis of fibrosis stage in NAFLD patients. ⋯ False positive diagnosis of advanced fibrosis in NAFLD patients can be reduced, and unnecessary liver biopsy can be avoided by repeating LSM.

Regorafenib in Chinese patients with metastatic colorectal cancer: Subgroup analysis of the phase 3 CONCUR trial.
In the phase 3 CONCUR trial (NCT01584830), regorafenib improved overall survival (OS) versus placebo in Asian patients with treatment-refractory metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). We conducted a post hoc subgroup analysis of Chinese patients in CONCUR. ⋯ This retrospective analysis showed that regorafenib provided an OS benefit over placebo for Chinese patients with previously treated mCRC. TEAEs were consistent with the regorafenib safety profile and manageable with treatment modifications.
