An unusual communication between the radial and ulnar nerves was observed during repair of a fracture of the humerus in an adult patient who presented with unusual physical exam findings. The patient had loss of radial and ulnar nerve motor function, as well as decreased sensation in both nerve distributions. ⋯ Communications between branches of the brachial plexus are also not uncommon findings; however there is very little mention of communication between the radial and ulnar nerves in the literature. An appreciation of unusual nerve anatomy is important in explaining unusual finding in patients.

Left carotid-anterior cerebral artery anastomosis diagnosed by MR angiography: a case report.
Anastomosis of the carotid-anterior cerebral artery (ACA) is a rare anomalous vessel that arises from the internal carotid artery (ICA) at the level of the ophthalmic artery and takes an infraoptic and prechiasmatic path to anastomose with the ACA. It has known right-sided predominance. ⋯ Our literature search revealed only six reported cases of left carotid-ACA anastomoses. We believe ours is the first case diagnosed by MR angiography.

Comparison of injection/dissection and injection/corrosion methods: example of vertebral veins in the transverse canal.
In order to contribute some new elements to the discussion on the organization of the vertebral veins inside the transverse canal, we compared two dissection techniques: injection/dissection and injection/corrosion. The aim of this study was to compare these two techniques to study the vertebral veins, and also to emphasize the importance of preserving specimens in anatomical museums. ⋯ By analyzing different aspects of the vertebral veins anatomy in the transverse canal, the two techniques complete each other. This study emphasizes the importance of preserving the anatomical preparations: in addition to the historical and cultural value of these preparations, they contain precious information that furthers our anatomical knowledge.

Due to inadvertent cardiac or great vessel injury, sternal foramina may pose as a great hazard during sternal puncture. They can also be misinterpreted as osteolytic lesions in cross-sectional imaging of the sternum. The distribution of these variations differs between populations, but data from Brazilians are scarcely reported. ⋯ The double-ended xiphoid process was present in 17.5%. We conclude that sternal acupuncture should be planned in the region of corpus-previous CT should be done to rule out this variation. Furthermore, we strongly recommend the acupuncture technique which prescribes a safe superficial-oblique approach to the sternum.
