Efficacy and safety of once-daily, single-inhaler fluticasone furoate/umeclidinium/vilanterol versus fluticasone furoate/vilanterol in Japanese patients with inadequately controlled asthma: the CAPTAIN study.
In CAPTAIN, a double-blind, parallel-group, Phase IIIA study, fluticasone furoate/umeclidinium/vilanterol (FF/UMEC/VI) improved lung function, symptoms and asthma control versus FF/VI in patients with inadequately controlled asthma. Here, we report efficacy and safety from a Japanese cohort in CAPTAIN. ⋯ FF/UMEC/VI is an effective option with a favorable risk-benefit profile in Japanese patients with uncontrolled moderate or severe asthma on ICS/LABA.

To evaluate and compare patient and neurologist preferences for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) treatments with respect to benefits and risks associated with common and novel disease-modifying therapies, including brain volume loss (BVL). ⋯ This study highlights similarities in treatment preferences for non-highly-active RRMS among patients and neurologists and differences in neurologists' preferences for treating non-highly-active vs. highly active RRMS. This research identifies BVL as a treatment outcome that should be discussed when physicians engage in shared decision-making with patients.

This study assessed the association between HbA1c level measured 2 years after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and long-term clinical outcomes in type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) who underwent PCI. ⋯ The findings indicated an increased risk of MACEs by strict glycemic control after PCI (2-year HbA1c < 6.5% after PCI) in type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with ACS who underwent PCI.

Monitoring established Crohn's disease (CD) through a "treat-to-target" strategy aims to reduce and prevent long-term bowel damage and disability. Despite the availability of different monitoring techniques, there is a current lack of integrated evidence to guide optimal monitoring in terms of appropriate tools and timing. Pan-intestinal video capsule endoscopy (PCE) enables non-invasive and direct visualization of the entire intestinal tract with proven safety and efficacy. This study aims to generate insights on the value of PCE for monitoring established CD from the physician's perspective. ⋯ This study, using the NGT, generated expert opinion on the value of PCE for monitoring established CD in terms of target patient populations and benefits compared to other diagnostic modalities. Participants perceived PCE to facilitate a "treat-to-target" strategy for CD management. Further research is needed to support this value perception.

This pooled claims database study evaluated the risk of recurrent Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) and major bleeding (MB) among patients with VTE and active cancer prescribed apixaban, low-molecular weight heparin (LMWH), or warfarin stratified by high-risk subgroups. ⋯ Across these high-risk subgroups of VTE cancer patients, treatment outcomes associated with apixaban were generally positive compared to LMWH and warfarin.
