Effects of pericapsular soft tissue and realignment exercises for patients with osteoarthritis of the hip and Harris Hip Score below 60 points.
To investigate the effectiveness of pericapsular soft tissue and realignment (PSTR) exercises for patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip and Harris Hip Score (HHS) below 60 points. Most previous studies of hip exercise have not been applied for patients with moderate to severe hip OA, especially those with an HHS below 60 points. Most studies of hip exercise in OA have involved muscle strength training, stretching, functional training and aerobic fitness programs, and have not included pelvic realignment exercise. We investigated the effect of pelvic realignment exercise for patients with hip OA and HHS below 60 points. ⋯ 20 July 2017 (UMIN000028277).

The R.Evolution project aimed to reach a consensus on the main challenges of conducting clinical research in Italy and possible strategies and approaches to address them and optimize clinical research management. ⋯ According to the R.Evolution project, possible strategies to improve clinical research management in Italy include a deeper understanding of the value of clinical research, the creation of long-term plans for hiring, training, organizing and motivating clinical trial staff, the simplification and harmonization of administrative procedures, as well as protocol design, and the development of stronger networks of centers and stakeholders.

To develop a claims-based algorithm identifying systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) flares using a linked claims-electronic medical record (EMR) dataset. ⋯ The final algorithm shows promise in providing an alternative and more streamlined way for identifying likely flares in administrative claims data that will advance the study of SLE within the context of flares.

Although a high incidence of major depressive disorder (MDD) and an increased risk of suicide are observed among the veteran population, there are yet limited real-world data characterizing patients with MDD with acute suicidal ideation/behavior (MDSI) in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) system. We assessed the clinical and economic burden, including comorbidities, treatment patterns, health care resource utilization, and health care costs, among veterans and their family members with MDSI within the VHA system. ⋯ Findings demonstrate significant clinical and economic burden for those in the VHA system diagnosed with MDSI and highlight unmet needs and opportunities for improving the care of this vulnerable group.

Second-generation anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) alectinib and brigatinib have shown efficacy as front-line treatments for ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). No head-to-head data are currently available for brigatinib vs alectinib in the ALK-TKI-naive population. ⋯ Regardless of ITC methodology, OS is comparable for brigatinib vs alectinib in patients with ALK+ NSCLC previously untreated with an ALK inhibitor.
