Personalized medicine (PM), as a rapidly growing research area, provides treatments, practices, and interventions being adapted to an individual patient based on his own risk of disease. This study aims to analyze the productivity of countries, institutions, and authors in this field, to determine the existing research trends worldwide, and to forecast future research activity for specific countries. ⋯ Owing to its both interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature, PM bestows researchers' numerous sources to benefit and enables them a field that they can be productive of for the future. Therefore, this field is expected to progress and be the lead area in medicine in the upcoming years.

Neuropsychiatric disorders in brain tumor patients are commonly observed. It is difficult to anticipate these disorders in different types of brain tumors. The goal of the study was to see how well machine learning (ML)-based decision algorithms might predict neuropsychiatric problems in different types of brain tumors. ⋯ Random Forest Trees can be used to accurately predict neuropsychiatric illnesses. Based on the model output, the ML-decision trees will aid the physician in pre-diagnosing the mental issue and deciding on the best therapeutic approach to avoid subsequent neuropsychiatric issues in brain tumor patients.

Therapeutic lumbar puncture and lumbar drainage: which is more effective for the management of intracranial hypertension in HIV patients with cryptococcal meningitis? Results of a prospective non- randomized interventional study in China.
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic lumbar drainage (LD) compared to therapeutic lumbar puncture (LP) for the management of intracranial hypertension (ICH) among HIV-positive patients with cryptococcal meningitis (CM). ⋯ For HIV-positive CM patients with an elevated ICP, LD and LP are comparably effective and safe options to normalize ICP. LP increases the frequency of invasive lumbar therapeutic procedures but does not incur more risk of infection events at the puncture site, while LD may accelerate CSF Cryptococcus clearance but may induce more frequent localized infection.

This study compared all-cause direct cost and healthcare resource utilization (HCRU) among preventive migraine medication (PMM)-naïve patients and patients with up to 3 PMM category switches before initiating calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). ⋯ Total direct healthcare cost and HCRU increased significantly with increasing use of PMM classes with the greatest cost difference existing between the P0 and the P3 groups.

To quantify health care resource utilization (HCRU) and costs associated with insomnia treated with commonly prescribed insomnia medications among patients with depression. ⋯ Relative to controls with depression but without sleep disorders, overall, health care costs for adults with D + TI were 2.2-fold higher; costs and HCRU varied by insomnia medication. Further study of the impact of newer insomnia treatments on patient outcomes in depression and comorbid insomnia is warranted.
