Multicenter StudyAssociation between out-of-bed mobilization during the ICU stay of elderly patients and long-term autonomy: A cohort study.
Our objective was to estimate the impact of the absence of Out-of-Bed (OoB) mobilization during intensive care unit (ICU) stay among patients ≥70 years on their long-term autonomy. ⋯ Mobilization during the ICU stay of elderly ICU patient survivors was associated with a lower decreased autonomy at 6 months.

Comparison of outcome and characteristics between 6343 COVID-19 patients and 2256 other community-acquired viral pneumonia patients admitted to Dutch ICUs.
Describe the differences in characteristics and outcomes between COVID-19 and other viral pneumonia patients admitted to Dutch ICUs. ⋯ Higher mortality among COVID-19 patients could not be explained by patient characteristics and higher ICU occupancy rates, indicating that COVID-19 is more severe compared to other viral pneumonia. Our findings confirm earlier warnings of a high need of ICU capacity and high mortality rates among relatively healthy COVID-19 patients as this may lead to a higher mental workload for the staff.

Using long-term predicted Quality of Life in ICU clinical practice to prepare patients for life post-ICU: A feasibility study.
To examine the feasibility of using the PREdicting PAtients' long-term outcome for Recovery (PREPARE) prediction model for Quality of Life (QoL) 1 year after ICU admission in ICU practice to prepare expected ICU survivors and their relatives for life post-ICU. ⋯ Using predicted QoL scores in ICU practice to prepare patients and family members for life after ICU discharge is feasible. After optimising the model and implementation strategy, its effectiveness can be evaluated in a larger trial.

Intensive care unit strain and mortality risk in patients admitted from the ward in Australia and New Zealand.
ICU strain (low number of available beds) may be associated with a delay and altered threshold for ICU admission and adverse patient outcomes. We aimed to investigate the impact of ICU strain on hospital mortality in critically ill patients admitted from wards across Australia and New Zealand. ⋯ ICU strain is associated with longer times in hospital prior to ICU admission and was associated with increased risk of death in patients admitted from ward.

An international survey of adherence to Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines 2016 regarding fluid resuscitation and vasopressors in the initial management of septic shock.
Our survey aimed to evaluate adherence to Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) Guidelines 2016 among intensive care practitioners and to identify issues that remain controversial or lack clarity. ⋯ The use of vasopressors and fluid use in septic shock is largely compliant with current guidelines but several controversies should be addressed in future guideline iterations.
