Review Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyAssociation between delirium prediction scores and days spent with delirium.
To determine the correlation and discriminative value of the E-PRE-DELIRIC and PRE-DELIRIC scores with delirium exposure to evaluate the prognostic value of both models. ⋯ The E-PRE-DELIRIC and PRE-DELIRIC model each poorly correlate and discriminate with days spent with delirium in the 28 days after ICU admission.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyLong-term outcome of perioperative low cardiac output syndrome in cardiac surgery: 1-year results of a multicenter randomized trial.
Perioperative myocardial dysfunction occurs frequently in cardiac surgery, and is a risk factor for morbidity and mortality. Levosimendan has been suggested to reduce mortality of patients with perioperative myocardial dysfunction. However, long-term outcome data on its efficacy in cardiac surgery are lacking. ⋯ NCT00994825 (ClinicalTrials.gov).

Multicenter StudyEnd-of-life practices in traumatic brain injury patients: Report of a questionnaire from the CENTER-TBI study.
We aimed to study variation regarding specific end-of-life (EoL) practices in the intensive care unit (ICU) in traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients. ⋯ We found variation regarding EoL practices in TBI patients. These results provide insight into variability regarding important issues pertaining to EoL practices in TBI, which can be useful to stimulate discussions on EoL practices, comparative effectiveness research, and, ultimately, development of recommendations.

Multicenter StudyPrognostic capability of the Maximum Acute Gastrointestinal Injury Score and of caloric intake in patients requiring vasopressors: A multicenter prospective cohort study.
Our main objective was to use the Maximum Acute Gastrointestinal Injury Score (AGImax) to evaluate the prognostic capability of gastrointestinal dysfunction (GID), on hospital mortality in patients on mechanical ventilation (MV) requiring vasopressors. A secondary goal was to analyze the relationship between AGImax and vasopressor dosage with increasing caloric intake. ⋯ In this population, patients with AGImax III-IV were significantly associated with lower caloric intake and greater hospital mortality, highlighting the importance of AGI as a prognostic tool. As PN was linked with lower mortality, it could be an option to explore in further studies.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyRelationship between norepinephrine dose, tachycardia and outcome in septic shock: A multicentre evaluation.
Septic shock is associated with massive release of endogenous catecholamines. Adrenergic agents may exacerbate catecholamine toxicity and contribute to poor outcomes. We sought to determine whether an association existed between tachycardia and mortality in septic shock patients requiring norepinephrine for more than 6 h despite adequate volume resuscitation. ⋯ Use of high-dose norepinephrine and concurrent tachycardia are associated with poor outcomes in septic shock.
