A clinical conflict often presented with hip fracture patients is whether to proceed with timely surgery or delay surgery until a formal echocardiogram is conducted. This study aimed to assess the impact of incorporating point-of-care lung and cardiac ultrasound (LUCAS) scans as part of the preoperative assessment for hip fracture patients. ⋯ ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT03275129); registered 8 July 2018.

As Canadian health systems experience greater pressure to deliver timely perioperative care, public opinion is likely to influence health care policy decisions. Since Canadian public perception of anesthesiologists is unknown, the goal of this Canadian-wide survey was to begin to quantify public opinion regarding anesthesiologists in Canada. ⋯ Over half of surveyed Canadians did not identify the most responsible anesthesia provider as a physician.
