Deferoxamine Improves Alveolar and Pulmonary Vascular Development by Upregulating Hypoxia-inducible Factor-1α in a Rat Model of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia.
Fetal lung development normally occurs in a hypoxic environment. Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α is robustly induced under hypoxia and transactivates many genes that are essential for fetal development. Most preterm infants are prematurely exposed to hyperoxia, which can halt hypoxia-driven lung maturation. ⋯ Immunohistochemical analysis showed that HIF-1α was significantly upregulated in the lungs of BPD rats treated with DFX. DFX was also found to induce HIF-1α in human small airway epithelial cells and to promote the expression of HIF-1α target genes. Our data suggest that DFX induces and activates HIF-1α, thereby improving alveolarization and vascular distribution in the lungs of rats with BPD.

S1000A12, Chitotriosidase, and Resolvin D1 as Potential Biomarkers of Familial Mediterranean Fever.
Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an auto-inflammatory disease characterised by periodic inflammatory attacks. We investigated changes in monocyte-granulocyte derived S10012A and chitotriosidase in both the attack and silent period of FMF for better estimation of inflammation. Endogenous resolvin was determined for utility to restrict inflammation. ⋯ They could be more informative for inflammation in various disease states compared to hsCRP and SAA. Resolvin D1 is elevated in both the attack and silent periods of FMF. It may be helpful to restrict inflammation.

Case ReportsPathological Substratum for a Case of Fulminant Myocarditis Treated with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation and Subsequent Heart Transplantation.
Fulminant myocarditis has been defined as the clinical manifestation of cardiac inflammation with rapid-onset heart failure and cardiogenic shock. We report on the case of a 23-yr-old woman with pathology-proven fulminant lymphocytic myocarditis presenting shock with elevated cardiac troponin I and ST segments in V1-2, following sustained ventricular tachycardia and a complete atrioventricular block. ⋯ The explanted heart revealed diffuse lymphocytic infiltration and myocyte necrosis in all four cardiac chamber walls. Aggressive mechanical circulatory support may be an essential bridge for recovery or even transplantation in patients with fulminant myocarditis with shock.

Editing, Publishing and Aggregating Video Articles: Do We Need a Scholarly Approach?
The article supports the idea of providing infrastructure and training for preparing and publishing quality video articles. Properly edited, formatted, and verified video items can present graphic contents of interest to the global scientific community. ⋯ Video articles on the platform have to pass quality checks by skilled reviewers. Global editorial associations should be prepared to improving the whole process of publishing and aggregating video articles.
