Systematic Preventable Trauma Death Rate Survey to Establish the Region-based Inclusive Trauma System in a Representative Province of Korea.
Trauma mortality review is the first step in assessing the quality of the trauma treatment system and provides an important basis for establishing a regional inclusive trauma system. This study aimed to obtain a reliable measure of the preventable trauma death rate in a single province in Korea. ⋯ The preventable trauma death rate was slightly lower in this study than in previous studies, although several problems were noted during inter-hospital transfer; in the hospital stage, more problems were noted at emergency medical care facilities than at regional trauma centers. Further, several opportunities for improvements were discovered regarding bleeding control.

Association between Chronic Kidney Disease or Acute Kidney Injury and Clinical Outcomes in COVID-19 Patients.
A population-based study would be useful to identify the association between chronic kidney disease (CKD) or acute kidney injury (AKI) and prognosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. ⋯ CKD requiring dialysis is associated with severe clinical outcomes and mortality in patients with COVID-19; however, the development of AKI is more strongly associated with severe clinical outcomes and mortality.

Establishing a Patient-centered Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship: Early Results from a Single Institution.
Longitudinal integrated clerkships (LICs) have been adopted by medical schools to overcome the limitations of traditional block clerkship rotations and to promote continuity of care. In 2018, Seoul National University College of Medicine introduced a patient-centered LIC program as part of a new curriculum in parallel with traditional block rotation clerkships. The purpose of this study was to present the patient-centered LIC program and to investigate its educational effects. ⋯ Our patient-centered LIC, in parallel with traditional block rotation clerkships, had a positive effect on students' experience of continuity of care and patient-centered care.

Menarcheal age has been decreasing worldwide. However, few recent studies have observed trends in menarcheal age in larger populations, and the cutoff age for early menarche remains unclear. Therefore, we aimed to analyze recent trends of menarcheal age and to determine the cutoff age of early menarche based on nationally representative data. ⋯ We reported an ongoing downward trend in menarcheal age in Korean girls born in 1988-2003, decreasing by 0.4 years over the 15 years.

Current and Future Burden of Periprosthetic Joint Infection from National Claim Database.
Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is the most serious complication after total joint arthroplasty. The incidence and burden of PJI in North America have been reported. There might be potential differences according to ethnics and regional practices between western countries and East Asia. Nevertheless, its incidence in East Asia remains unknown. We aimed to evaluate the incidence and economic burden of PJI in Korea and to project the future burden. ⋯ The incidence of PJI in Korea is comparable with reported PJI incidence of 2.0%-2.7% in the United States. Our findings would be used for worldwide comparison of PJI epidemiology and establishment of healthcare policies for PJI in East Asia.
