Epidemiological Study of Hereditary Hemolytic Anemia in the Korean Pediatric Population during 1997-2016: a Nationwide Retrospective Cohort Study.
Hereditary hemolytic anemia (HHA) is a rare disease characterized by premature red blood cell (RBC) destruction due to intrinsic RBC defects. The RBC Disorder Working Party of the Korean Society of Hematology established and updated the standard operating procedure for making an accurate diagnosis of HHA since 2007. The aim of this study was to investigate a nationwide epidemiology of Korean HHA. ⋯ In Korea, thalassemia traits have increased over the past 10 years, reflecting both increased awareness of this disease and increased international marriages. The enhanced recognition of RBC enzymopathies is due to advances in diagnostic technique; however, 6.5% of HHA patients still do not have a clear diagnosis. It is necessary to improve accessibility of diagnosing HHA.

Incidence of Major Bleeding in Patients with Pulmonary Thromboembolism Treated with Fixed Dose Alteplase 100 mg.
Acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is a critical cardiopulmonary condition associated with high mortality and morbidity. In massive PTE, recently referred to as high risk PTE, the routine protocol for thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (alteplase) is 100 mg over 2 hours. However, there are concerns about bleeding in patients with low body weight (< 50 kg), elderly patients, and Asians. ⋯ The major bleeding risk was higher in our study (26.3%) than in a previously published meta-analysis (9.24%). Therefore, we suggest reducing the dose of alteplase in patients who are elderly, Asian, or have cardiovascular disease. Further prospective studies of efficacy and bleeding rate after low dose alteplase should be considered.

Characteristics and Trends of Suicide Attempt or Non-suicidal Self-injury in Children and Adolescents Visiting Emergency Department.
Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and suicidality are common reasons for child and adolescent psychiatric emergencies. We aimed to investigate the incidence of pediatric emergency department (PED) utilization for psychiatric problems in children and adolescents and to identify demographic and clinical characteristics of youths who visited the PED for suicide attempt (SA) and/or NSSI. ⋯ SA and NSSI are one of the main reasons for child and adolescent admittance to psychiatric services in the PED and are associated with psychiatric comorbidities. An appropriate risk assessment for suicidality and self-injury and proper management and referral to mental health services at the PED are of the utmost importance.

Factors Related to Subjective Well-being in Workers Who Interact with Angry Clients.
Among workers who interact with angry clients, there is limited information about the characteristics of workers who are most vulnerable to mental health problems. Thus, we determined the association of multiple demographic, socioeconomic, and modifiable work-related psychosocial factors with the subjective well-being of workers who interact with angry clients. ⋯ Workers who interact with angry clients were widely distributed over non-manual labor and manual labor, but not limited to service and sales job. We identified modifiable factors that affect the subjective well-being of workers who interact with angry clients. We suggest that employers provide protection to prevent adverse social behaviors by clients, and also make an effort to establish a good social climate at the workplace.
