Population-based Analysis for Risk of Suicide Death in Elderly Patients after Osteoporotic Fracture: a Nested Case-Control Study.
The purpose of study was to investigate the incidence rate of suicide in elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures in a nested case-control model and to analyze the change in the risk of suicide death over time after each osteoporotic fracture. ⋯ There were noticeable differences in both degree and duration of increased suicide risks depending on the type of osteoporotic fracture. Mental stress and suicide risk in elderly patients after osteoporotic fracture should be assessed differently depending on the types of fracture.

Word Embedding Reveals Cyfra 21-1 as a Biomarker for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
Although patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) experience high morbidity and mortality worldwide, few biomarkers are available for COPD. Here, we analyzed potential biomarkers for the diagnosis of COPD by using word embedding. ⋯ Word embedding may be used for the discovery of biomarkers for COPD and Cyfra 21-1 may be used as a biomarker for emphysema. Additional studies are needed to validate Cyfra 21-1 as a biomarker for COPD.

Case ReportsSARS-CoV-2 Antibody Response to the BNT162b2 mRNA Vaccine in Persons with Past Natural Infection.
There are still no agreed guidelines on the vaccination of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for previously infected patients. Here, we present two seropositive healthcare workers (HCWs) working in an isolation ward who recovered from COVID-19 in April 2020 and got vaccinated with BNT162b2 vaccine in March 2021. We have assessed the clinical course, vaccine-related adverse events, and antibody response after natural infection and after first and second dose vaccination. ⋯ Signal inhibition rate of neutralizing antibodies was also increased to over 97%. Due to this increased effect, there was little difference in antibody levels after the first and second dose. Both patients 1 and 2 suffered more from adverse vaccine reactions after the second vaccination than from COVID-19 symptoms.

Prediction of COVID-19-related Mortality and 30-Day and 60-Day Survival Probabilities Using a Nomogram.
Prediction of mortality in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a key to improving the clinical outcomes, considering that the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the collapse of healthcare systems in many regions worldwide. This study aimed to identify the factors associated with COVID-19 mortality and to develop a nomogram for predicting mortality using clinical parameters and underlying diseases. ⋯ The prediction model could accurately predict COVID-19-related mortality; thus, it would be helpful for identifying the risk of mortality and establishing medical policies during the pandemic to improve the clinical outcomes.

Neurodevelopmental Outcomes at 18-24 Months of Corrected Age in Very Low Birth Weight Infants with Late-onset Sepsis.
Preterm infants are prone to sepsis owing to their immature innate immunity and prolonged hospitalization. We aimed to evaluate the association between late-onset sepsis (LOS) during hospitalization and neurodevelopmental delay at 18-24 months of corrected age in very low birth weight infants (VLBWIs), and to ascertain this association when adjusted for perinatal risk factors. ⋯ In VLBWIs with LOS, there is a heightened risk of cognitive delays at 18-24 months of corrected age. Brain injury, such as severe IVH and PVL, duration of mechanical ventilation, and IUGR, were also associated with cognitive and motor delays.
