Review Case ReportsSubacute Thyroiditis After Receiving the mRNA COVID-19 Vaccine (Moderna): The First Case Report and Literature Review in Korea.
Subacute thyroiditis (SAT) is a painful thyroiditis that often requires steroid therapy. Here, we report the first case of severe SAT in a patient who received the first dose of mRNA coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination. A 34-year-old man without a viral prodrome felt a lump when swallowing 5 days after his first dose of mRNA-1273 (Moderna) vaccination. ⋯ The thyroid function test results were nearly normal 1 month after the completion of the vaccination. We report this case to raise awareness of the occurrence of SAT after COVID-19 vaccination. As the risk of COVID-19 outweighs the minor risks of the vaccine, managing the side effects of the first vaccine dose is crucial to complete COVID-19 vaccination.

Multicenter StudyMother-Adolescent Discrepancies in Reporting Sleep Disturbances: Effects of Diagnosis and Mother's Occupation.
Sleep disturbances are common in children and adolescents. However, they are rarely diagnosed and treated because parents, who often report the symptoms, may fail to notice the problems. Factors that can affect parent-child discrepancy include child's diagnosis, parent's occupation, and child's sex. The current study retrospectively analyzed the effect of these factors on parent-child discrepancies of sleep disturbance scores. ⋯ The results of this study emphasize the need to explore with caution the self-reported sleep disturbances in adolescents, especially in those with mood disorders. The results also suggest that mother's occupation should be taken into account when evaluating sleep reports of parents and adolescents.

Pre-Hospital Delay in Patients With Acute Stroke During the Initial Phase of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Outbreak.
When a sudden outbreak of an infectious disease occurs, emergency medical services (EMS) response could be negatively affected. The poor prognosis of acute stroke may be largely attributed to delays in treatment. This study aimed to identify the impact of the sudden outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on EMS response for patients with acute stroke. ⋯ In the initial phase after the sudden COVID-19 outbreak, EMS response times for acute stroke were delayed and the clinical outcomes of patients with acute stroke deteriorated.
