Observational StudyNational Implementation of Emergency Department-Based Follow-up Program for Suicidal Attempts.
Death by suicide is a major public health problem. To provide multidisciplinary support to patients who attempted suicide, emergency department (ED)-based psychiatric screening and intervention programs were offered. We traced the long-term survival outcome of patients visiting the ED after suicide attempts using the national death certificate registration database. ⋯ Suicide resulted in a lower long-term mortality rate among patients who complied with the follow-up case management session in the ED-based brief psychiatric intervention and follow-up program.

The Effect of Chronic Disease Management Program on the Risk of Complications in Patients With Hypertension in Korea.
A chronic disease management program was implemented in April 2012 to lower out-of-pocket costs for repeat visits to the same clinic. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between participating in this program and the onset of complications among patients with hypertension using whole-nation claims data. ⋯ The results showed that participants of the chronic disease management program were less likely to have hypertension complications compared to non-participants. Enhancing the participation rate may be related to better outcomes and reducing medical expenses among patients with chronic diseases.

IntraBrain Injector (IBI): A Stereotactic-Guided Device for Repeated Delivery of Therapeutic Agents Into the Brain Parenchyma.
To deliver therapeutics into the brain, it is imperative to overcome the issue of the blood-brain-barrier (BBB). One of the ways to circumvent the BBB is to administer therapeutics directly into the brain parenchyma. To enhance the treatment efficacy for chronic neurodegenerative disorders, repeated administration to the target location is required. However, this increases the number of operations that must be performed. In this study, we developed the IntraBrain Injector (IBI), a new implantable device to repeatedly deliver therapeutics into the brain parenchyma. ⋯ Precise and repeated delivery of therapeutics into the brain parenchyma can be done without performing additional surgeries via IBI implantation.

Service Demand for and Awareness of a Primary Healthcare Pilot Project for People With Disabilities.
This study investigated the demand for and awareness of a primary healthcare pilot project for people with disabilities; it also sought to identify relevant determinants for demand and awareness using Andersen's behavioral model of health service use. ⋯ Chronic disease and an unmet need for medical care were key determinants of service demand, while the severity of disability was not. Thus, there is a need to review the initiative that defines service beneficiaries as people with severe disabilities. Policy makers should consider advertising programs to improve service awareness among people with disabilities.
