Prospective study of posttraumatic stress disorder in parents of children with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes.
To determine the prevalence, course, and predictors of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in mothers and fathers of children with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes. ⋯ The results suggest that the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes in their child constitute traumatic events for parents. The findings confirm the applicability of a posttraumatic stress model for investigating the psychological impact of diabetes on parents.

Psychometric properties of the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) in the general adolescent population.
This study examined the psychometric properties of the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) in a large sample of adolescents from the general population. ⋯ The findings of this study support the claim that the SCARED has a five-factor structure. The usefulness of the SCARED was also demonstrated.
