Review Practice Guideline GuidelinePractice parameter for the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with enuresis.
Enuresis is a symptom that is frequently encountered in child psychiatric evaluations. Careful assessment is required to identify specific urologic, developmental, psychosocial, and sleep-related etiologies. ⋯ Treatment then involves supportive approaches, conditioning with a urine alarm, or medications--imipramine or desmopressin acetate. The psychosocial consequences of the symptom must be recognized and addressed with sensitivity during the evaluation and treatment of enuresis.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialA pilot and feasibility study of virtual reality as a distraction for children with cancer.
To pilot and test the feasibility of a novel technology to reduce anxiety and pain associated with an invasive medical procedure in children with cancer. ⋯ These findings suggest that virtual reality may be a useful tool for distraction during painful medical procedures, but further studies are needed to test potential efficacy and feasibility during other, more distressing medical procedures with larger sample sizes.

Reduced anterior cingulate glutamatergic concentrations in childhood OCD and major depression versus healthy controls.
To examine in vivo glutamatergic neurochemical alterations in the anterior cingulate cortex of pediatric patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) without major depressive disorder (MDD) versus pediatric patients with MDD without OCD and healthy controls. ⋯ Altered anterior cingulate glutamatergic neurotransmission may be involved in the pathogenesis of OCD and MDD. These preliminary findings further suggest that reduced anterior cingulate glutamate does not differentiate pediatric patients with OCD from pediatric patients with MDD.
