Reduced anterior cingulate cortex glutamatergic concentrations in childhood major depression.
To examine in vivo glutamatergic neurochemical alterations in the anterior cingulate cortex of children with major depressive disorder (MDD). ⋯ These preliminary findings provide new evidence of localized functional neurochemical marker alterations in Glx in anterior cingulate cortex in pediatric MDD. Altered anterior cingulate Glx neurotransmission may be involved in the pathogenesis of MDD.

Summary of the practice parameter for the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with enuresis.
Enuresis is a symptom that is frequently encountered in child psychiatric evaluations. Careful assessment is required to identify specific urologic, developmental, psychosocial, and sleep-related etiologies. ⋯ Treatment then involves supportive approaches, conditioning with a urine alarm, or medications-imipramine or desmopressin acetate. The psychosocial consequences of the symptom must be recognized and addressed with sensitivity during the evaluation and treatment of enuresis.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Clinical TrialEffects of risperidone on conduct and disruptive behavior disorders in children with subaverage IQs.
To determine whether risperidone is effective in reducing symptoms of disruptive behaviors (such as aggression, impulsivity, defiance of authority figures, and property destruction) associated with conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and disruptive behavior disorder-not otherwise specified in children with subaverage IQs. ⋯ Risperidone appears to be an adequately tolerated and effective treatment in children with subaverage IQs and severe disruptive behaviors such as aggression and destructive behavior.

Relationship between separation anxiety disorder, parental panic disorder, and atopic disorders in children: a controlled high-risk study.
To test the hypotheses that rates of atopic disorders are elevated in offspring of parents with panic disorder (PD) and in children with separation anxiety disorder (SAD). ⋯ Atopic disorders in children are associated with parental PD and with childhood SAD. Results do not appear to support that having both childhood SAD and a parent with PD confers increased risk for atopic disorders above and beyond either condition alone.
