Mental health problems and service use among female juvenile offenders: their relationship to criminal history.
To describe (1) the level of mental health problems and lifetime use of specialty mental health services and special education programs among incarcerated female juvenile offenders and (2) how these indices relate to their criminal history. ⋯ A substantial proportion of female juvenile offenders merit a mental health evaluation. Interventions for these high-risk youths should include an assessment for substance use disorders because of the association of recidivism and substance use problems in this population.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialCompliance with recommendations to remove firearms in families participating in a clinical trial for adolescent depression.
To assess the rate and correlates of compliance with clinicians' recommendations to remove firearms from the homes of depressed adolescents participating in a clinical trial. ⋯ Families of depressed adolescents may frequently be noncompliant with recommendations to remove guns from the home despite compliance with other aspects of treatment. More efficacious interventions to reduce access to guns in the homes of at-risk youths are needed.

Behavioral and emotional problems in Chinese children of divorced parents.
This study examined the behavioral problems in Chinese children of divorced parents. ⋯ The findings emanating from China provide the first evidence of the link between parental divorce and children's psychopathology and clarify the psychopathological dimensions in Chinese children of divorced parents.

Comparative StudyInternal representations: predicting anxiety from children's play narratives.
This research uses children's story-stem play narratives to examine whether certain specified internal representations of self and experiences will predict later childhood anxiety. ⋯ Child negative expectations may be a risk factor or a mechanism for the development of later anxiety. Children's narratives may be useful for examining such representations and identifying children at risk.
