Examining the influence of three types of social support on the mental health of mexican caregivers of individuals with traumatic brain injury.
The aim of this study was to examine the influence of three types of social support (appraisal, belonging, and tangible) on caregiver mental health (anxiety, burden, depression, and satisfaction with life) among Mexican caregivers of individuals with traumatic brain injury. ⋯ Particularly in Latin America, strong social support networks and family connections seem closely tied to key mental health outcomes such as depression. Rehabilitation interventions aimed at strengthening perceptions of social support of caregivers of individuals with traumatic brain injury that specifically target availability of advice may improve mental health and contribute to more optimal informal care for individuals with traumatic brain injury.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyUltrasound-guided vs. blind steroid injections in carpal tunnel syndrome: A single-blind randomized prospective study.
The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and the safety of ultrasound (US)-guided vs. blind steroid injections in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). ⋯ Although both US-guided and blind steroid injections were effective in reducing the symptoms of CTS and improving the function, an earlier onset/better improvement of symptom relief suggests that US-guided steroid injection may be more effective than are blind injections in CTS.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of ultrasound-guided intra-articular injections by long axis in plane approach on three different sites of the knee.
The objective of this study was to examine the accuracy of ultrasound-guided intra-articular (IA) injections on three different sites of the knee using midmedial, midlateral, and superolateral portals. ⋯ All three ultrasound-guided IA injections may be used to access the knee joint, with a high rate of accuracy.

Laryngeal response patterns to mechanical insufflation-exsufflation in healthy subjects.
Mechanical insufflation-exsufflation (MI-E) is used to assist cough in patients with neuromuscular diseases. Clinically, application may be challenging in some patient groups, possibly related to laryngeal dysfunction. Before launching a study in patients, the authors investigated laryngeal responses to MI-E in healthy individuals. ⋯ The larynx can be studied with transnasal laryngoscopy during MI-E in healthy individuals. Laryngeal responses to MI-E vary, and laryngoscopy may offer valuable clinical information when applying MI-E in patients with bulbar muscle weakness.
