Case ReportsProximal median nerve entrapment caused by a distal biceps tendon cyst: an ultrasonographic diagnosis.
A 60-yr-old woman reported severe pain in the proximal part of her left forearm. The pain was also radiating toward the median nerve-innervated areas of the arm, especially during elbow flexion. ⋯ The patient's complaint improved 1 wk after the injection, and she started to flex her elbow without any pain. This case highlights the role of ultrasonography as a useful adjunctive tool not only to morphologically confirm a peripheral nerve entrapment but also to uncover the possible underlying etiology and to guide precisely during an intervention.

Responsiveness and minimal important changes for the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score in subjects undergoing rehabilitation after total knee arthroplasty.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the responsiveness and minimal important changes for the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) in subjects undergoing rehabilitation after total knee arthroplasty. ⋯ The KOOS was sensitive in detecting clinical changes. The authors recommend taking the minimal important changes provided into account when assessing patient improvement or planning studies in this clinical context.

Review Case ReportsRehabilitation and long-term course of nontraumatic myelopathy associated with surfing.
A nontraumatic spinal cord injury related to surfing is called surfer's myelopathy. The case of a 26-yr-old man who became paraplegic after surfing without apparent traumatic events is described. Physical examination revealed a spinal cord injury at T12 according to the American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale A. ⋯ He became able to walk with knee-ankle-foot-orthoses without assistance. A magnetic resonance image obtained 1 yr after the onset of paraplegia showed an atrophic spinal cord from T7-8 to the conus. The course of the neurologic findings and the imaging studies suggest that the pathogenesis of surfer's myelopathy may be ischemia of the anterior spinal artery territory induced by the abnormal trunk posture while surfing.

Comparative StudyComparison of pain score reduction using triamcinolone vs. dexamethasone in cervical transforaminal epidural steroid injections.
This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of triamcinolone vs. dexamethasone used in transforaminal epidural steroid injections for the treatment of cervical radiculopathy. ⋯ The mean reduction in pain score in this set of 441 patients with cervical radiculopathy treated with transforaminal epidural steroid injections was independent of the type of corticosteroid formulation used. Triamcinolone (40 mg) and dexamethasone (15 mg) produced similar benefits as measured by the patients' self-reported pain scores.
