To compare a cohort of transferred pediatric orthopaedic patients with orthopaedic patients who primarily presented to a Level 1 pediatric emergency department to identify risk factors for transfer. ⋯ Prognostic Level III. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.

Hypovitaminosis D in Orthopaedic Trauma: Which Guidelines Should Be Followed?
To evaluate the risk factors for hypovitaminosis D and to determine the baseline vitamin D supplementation associated with normal vitamin D levels at presentation. ⋯ Prognostic Level II. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.

To evaluate the rates and mechanisms of failure for cephalomedullary nail fixation using helical blade versus screw fixation and to identify the predictors of failure. ⋯ Therapeutic Level III. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.

Fractures of the distal femur with intercondylar extension and comminution are challenging cases and demand a thorough preoperative evaluation and execution of proper surgical technique. Identification of the intra-articular fractures, including coronal fractures of the lateral condyle, is important in planning surgery and emphasizes the need for computerized tomography scans. ⋯ Stable fixation that allows for early range of motion and mobilization are essential for the patient's recovery. This video demonstrates open reduction and internal fixation of a high-energy supracondylar/intercondylar distal femur fracture and emphasizes minimally invasive, biologically friendly techniques.

The Effect of Under-Dosing Prophylactic Antibiotics in the Care of Open Tibial Fractures.
To determine the frequency and effect of under-dosing prophylactic weight-based antibiotics in patients with open tibial fractures. We hypothesized that patients who did not receive appropriate weight-based dosing of prophylactic antibiotics would have higher rates of infection. ⋯ Therapeutic Level III. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.
