Surgical Site Infections in Patients with Type III Open Fractures: Comparing Antibiotic Prophylaxis with Cefazolin plus Gentamicin versus Piperacillin/Tazobactam.
The purpose of this study was to compare rates of surgical site infection (SSI) in patients with type 3 open fractures who had received cefazolin plus gentamicin versus piperacillin/tazobactam for antibiotic prophylaxis. ⋯ Therapeutic Level III. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.

Posteromedial fractures of the tibial plateau are often encountered after high-energy injuries. They can be seen in isolation or in combination with lateral column fractures. These fractures must be recognized and stabilized independently of any lateral sided fracture to ensure the stability of the final construct. ⋯ The reduction maneuver involves extension and valgus of the knee along with direct manipulation of the fracture fragment. A small fragment antiglide plate is then placed to stabilize the fracture. This relatively straightforward approach is of great use when treating complex tibial plateau fractures involving the medial and posterior columns.

"Fracturoscopy" is Superior to Fluoroscopy in the Articular Reconstruction of Complex Tibial Plateau Fractures-An Arthroscopy Assisted Fracture Reduction Technique.
To analyze the anatomic accuracy of fracture reduction controlled by fluoroscopy as compared with arthroscopically assisted reduction ("fracturoscopy") in patients with complex tibial plateau fractures (AO/OTA 41-C). Quality of fracturoscopy-guided reduction was checked with postoperative computed tomography. ⋯ Therapeutic Level IV. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.

To compare single versus multiple procedures in the same surgical setting. We hypothesized that complication rates would not be different and length of stay would be shorter in patients undergoing multiple procedures. ⋯ Therapeutic Level II. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.

Early Weightbearing and Range of Motion Versus Non-Weightbearing and Immobilization After Open Reduction and Internal Fixation of Unstable Ankle Fractures: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
The aim of this study was to compare early weightbearing and range of motion (ROM) to nonweightbearing and immobilization in a cast after surgical fixation of unstable ankle fractures. ⋯ Therapeutic Level I. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.
