The lymphatic system, segregated from the blood vascular system, is an essential anatomical route along which interstitial fluid, solutes, lipids, immune cells, and cellular debris, are conveyed. However, the way these mechanisms operate within the cranial compartment is mostly unknown. Herein, we review current understanding of the meningeal lymphatics, described anatomically over a century ago yet still poorly understood from a functional standpoint. ⋯ The clinical relevance of the meningeal lymphatics will also be described, as they are relevant to various common defects of the lymphatic system. There is no standardized approach to the greater occipital nerve (GON) block technique for treating occipital neuralgia. The aim of the present study was to validate the previously-suggested guidelines for conventional injection techniques and to provide navigational guidelines for safe GON block. The GON, lesser occipital nerve (LON) and occipital artery (OA) were carefully dissected in the occipital region of embalmed cadavers. ⋯ The safe injection points on the EOP-MP line are about 3 cm from the EOP, 1 cm inferior parallel to the EOP-MP line, and about 3 cm away from the MP. The use of dorsal cutaneous branch of the ulnar nerve (DCBUN) transfer for median nerve (MN) sensory restoration has not been evaluated anatomically and histologically in humans. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of DCBUN to MN transfer for sensory restoration with respect to nerve branch pattern, length, and fascicle count match. Using seven fresh frozen cadaveric upper limb specimens, the DCBUN and its branch patterns, lengths, and sizes were recorded. ⋯ The individual size of the DCBUN branch is smaller than CDN; however, combining two or more branches of the DCBUN would overcome the fascicle and size mismatch to reconstruct the 1st web space CDN for critical sensory restoration. Difficulty in identifying the susprascapular nerve (SSN) limits the success of US-guided regional anesthetic injections. A proximal SSN block could be an effective and reliable approach. The primary objective was to validate the feasibility of the US-guided proximal SSN block. ⋯ This regional anesthesia could also reduce the risk of phrenic nerve palsy following interscalene brachial plexus block. The inferior gluteal nerve has been traditionally described as a solely motor branch innervating the gluteus maximus. However, during routine dissection of the gluteal region, a cutaneous branch of the inferior gluteal nerve was identified. As the gluteal region is vulnerable to the development of pressure ulcers and iatrogenic injury with for example, surgical approaches and injection therapies, a comprehensive understanding of its cutaneous innervation is important. ⋯ We propose naming these cutaneous branches the lateral cluneal nerves, which would necessitate renaming the middle cluneal nerves to medial cluneal nerves.
