Observational Study
A Single-Institute Experience With Radioactive Seed Localization of Breast Lesions-A Retrospective Study.
To assess the benefits associated with radioactive seed localization (RSL) in comparison to conventional wire localization (WL) for nonpalpable breast lesions. ⋯ The use of RSL, as compared to conventional WL, resulted in a reduction in the number of pathologically involved surgical margins and was associated with an increased number of surgeries. Furthermore, RSL can be performed up to 14 days prior to surgery, which may improve scheduling flexibility in the radiology department.

To evaluate the efficacy of the semiquantitative and quantitative parameters of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in differentiating between benign and malignant soft-tissue tumors. ⋯ The use of semiquantitative and quantitative parameters of DCE-MRI enabled differentiation between benign and malignant soft-tissue tumors. The values of TTP were lower, while those of MAX Conc, AUC-TC, MAX Slope, Ktrans, and Kep were higher in malignant than in benign tumors.

To conduct a retrospective review and quality assurance study of inferior vena cava (IVC) filter retrieval over a two-year period at a tertiary care centre. ⋯ Our study indicates that as many as 33% of patients may have been lost to follow-up of their in-situ IVC filter. Considering widespread reports of long-term complications and the recent safety alert issued by Health Canada, it is evident that a unified strategy is needed to track patients post filter insertion.

In suspected spondylodiscitis and vertebral osteomyelitis, computed tomography (CT)-guided biopsies are often performed to determine a causative organism and guide antimicrobial therapy. The aim of this study is to determine the diagnostic culture yield of CT-guided biopsies performed in cases of suspected spinal infections. ⋯ The diagnostic culture yield of CT-guided biopsies in cases of suspected spinal infection is 33%. In the majority of cases, a causative organism is not identified. This suggests that improvements can be made in biopsy technique and specimen transfer to optimize culture yield and increase the clinical value of the procedure.

Physician burnout is on the rise compared to the average population, and radiology burnout rates are ranked high compared to other specialties. We aim to assess radiologist and radiology trainee burnout in Canada. ⋯ Canadian radiologists and radiology trainees reported above average burnout symptoms with regard to both emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. Future research directions include exploring etiologies of burnout and implementation of treatment strategies based on these identified problem areas.
