Multicenter StudyA phase II study of apatinib in patients with recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer.
Antiangiogenic treatments have been implicated to play a major role in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Apatinib, a novel oral antiangiogenic agent targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR2), is currently being studied in different tumor types and is already used in gastric adenocarcinoma. This study was performed to assess the efficacy and safety of apatinib in patients with recurrent, pretreated EOC. ⋯ Apatinib 500mg daily p.o. is a feasible treatment in patients with recurrent, platinum-resistant, pretreated EOC. Multi-center prospective studies enrolling more patients are needed.

Multicenter StudyIs chemotherapy always necessary for patients with nonmetastatic gestational trophoblastic neoplasia with histopathological diagnosis of choriocarcinoma?
To evaluate expectant management versus immediate chemotherapy following pathological diagnosis of gestational choriocarcinoma (GCC) in patients with nonmetastatic disease. ⋯ In order to avoid exposing patients unnecessarily to chemotherapy, close surveillance of women with pathological diagnosis of nonmetastatic GCC seems to be a safe practice, particularly for those who have a normal hCG at the time of diagnosis. If confirmed by other studies, the FIGO guidelines may need to be revised.

Impact of surgical approach and patient factors on Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey scoring in gynecologic surgery.
We sought to compare the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey responses of women who underwent gynecologic surgery at our institution across patient factors and surgical approach. ⋯ In Gynecologic Surgery, patients undergoing laparotomy gave lower hospital ratings compared to laparoscopy. Those with longer LOS reported poorer patient experience, which is the driving variable for lower scores. In the future, it may be necessary to adjust for surgical approach when reporting patient experience scoring.

Screening for cervical cancer among HIV-positive and HIV-negative women in Cameroon using simultaneous co-testing with careHPV DNA testing and visual inspection enhanced by digital cervicography: Findings of initial screening and one-year follow-up.
The World Health Organization (WHO)'s cervical cancer screening guidelines for limited-resource settings recommend sequential screening followed by same-day treatment under a "screen-and-treat" approach. We aimed to (1) assess feasibility and clinical outcomes of screening HIV-positive and HIV-negative Cameroonian women by pairing visual inspection with acetic acid and Lugol's iodine enhanced by digital cervicography (VIA/VILI-DC) with careHPV, a high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) nucleic acid test designed for low-resource settings; and (2) determine persistence of HR-HPV infection after one-year follow-up to inform optimal screening, treatment, and follow-up algorithms. ⋯ We found careHPV co-testing with VIA/VILI-DC to be feasible and valuable in identifying false-positives, but careHPV screening-to-result time was too long to inform same-day treatment.

ReviewSystematic review: Tumor-associated antigen autoantibodies and ovarian cancer early detection.
Tumor-associated autoantibodies (AAbs), produced as an immune response to tumor-associated antigens (TAAs), are a novel pathway of early detection markers. ⋯ AAbs for ovarian cancer early detection is an emerging area, and large-scale, prospective investigations considering histology and stage are required for discovery and validation. However, data to date suggests panels of AAbs may eventually reach sufficient diagnostic discrimination to allow earlier detection of disease as a complement to existing markers and transvaginal ultrasound.
