Postoperative external beam radiation therapy and concurrent cisplatin followed by carboplatin/paclitaxel for stage III (FIGO 2009) endometrial cancer.
The optimal adjuvant therapy in advanced endometrial cancer is controversial. One regimen is concurrent external beam pelvic irradiation (RT) and cisplatin, then carboplatin/paclitaxel. This study reports an institutional experience using this approach in stage III (FIGO 2009) endometrial cancer. ⋯ These favorable outcomes corroborate those of RTOG 9708. Until prospective data that compare adjuvant therapy regimens mature, concurrent chemoradiation should be strongly considered in stage III endometrial cancer.

Cost-effectiveness of early palliative care intervention in recurrent platinum-resistant ovarian cancer.
To determine if early palliative care intervention in patients with recurrent, platinum-resistant ovarian cancer is potentially cost saving or cost-effective. ⋯ Early palliative care intervention has the potential to reduce costs associated with end of life care in patients with ovarian cancer.

Validating the M. D. Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI) for use in patients with ovarian cancer.
The M. D. Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI) captures the severity of common cancer symptoms from the patient's perspective. We describe the validity and sensitivity of a module of the MDASI to be used with patients having ovarian cancer (MDASI-OC). ⋯ The 27-item MDASI-OC meets common criteria for validation and reliability and is sensitive to expected changes in symptoms related to differences in disease and treatment status.

Is vaccination with quadrivalent HPV vaccine after loop electrosurgical excision procedure effective in preventing recurrence in patients with high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN2-3)?
This study was conducted to determine whether vaccination with the quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine after loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) for high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN2-3) is effective in preventing recurrence of CIN2-3. ⋯ Vaccination with the quadrivalent HPV vaccine after treatment may be considered in preventing recurrence of CIN2-3.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyA Phase II, randomized, double-blind study of zibotentan (ZD4054) in combination with carboplatin/paclitaxel versus placebo in combination with carboplatin/paclitaxel in patients with advanced ovarian cancer sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy (AGO-OVAR 2.14).
In platinum-sensitive relapsed ovarian cancer, paclitaxel plus carboplatin is a standard second-line treatment. Zibotentan (ZD4054) is an oral, specific ETA-receptor antagonist with demonstrated antitumour activity in xenograft models of human ovarian cancer. ⋯ Zibotentan 10mg/day plus carboplatin and paclitaxel did not result in an improvement in PFS compared with chemotherapy alone in patients with advanced ovarian cancer sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy. No unexpected safety concerns were identified.
