Concurrent radiotherapy with paclitaxel/carboplatin chemotherapy as a definitive treatment for squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix.
To evaluate the toxicity and the efficacy of paclitaxel/carboplatin chemoradiotherapy as a definitive treatment for squamous cell cancer of the uterine cervix. ⋯ Concurrent chemoradiotherapy with paclitaxel and carboplatin is effective to achieve an excellent pelvic control.

Multicenter StudyPaclitaxel, carboplatin and pegylated liposomal doxorubicin in ovarian and peritoneal carcinoma: a phase I study of the Gynecologic Oncology Group.
Based on the activity and tolerability of liposomal doxorubicin in platinum- and paclitaxel-resistant ovarian carcinoma, we conducted a phase I trial of pegylated liposomal doxorubicin with paclitaxel and carboplatin to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) in chemotherapy naive ovarian, peritoneal and tubal carcinoma patients. ⋯ Paclitaxel 175 mg/m(2), carboplatin (AUC=5) and pegylated liposomal doxorubicin 30 mg/m(2) are tolerable without supportive therapy. The usual dose intensity of paclitaxel/carboplatin was maintained by administering liposomal doxorubicin every other cycle.

Isolated lymph node relapse of epithelial ovarian carcinoma: outcomes and prognostic factors.
Relapses of epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC) have a poor prognosis. Isolated lymph node relapses (ILNR) are considered of relatively good prognosis with intensive therapy. ⋯ ILNR is a rare event in EOC. Time to relapse may not have its usual prognostic value. Immediate or delayed therapy should be discussed in case of asymptomatic ILNR.

CA125 expression in spontaneous ovarian adenocarcinomas from laying hens.
Currently, there is not a fully characterized model for human ovarian cancer; however, 2- to 4-year-old laying hens spontaneously develop ovarian tumors. CA125 expression is a hallmark of ovarian cancer in women. The major objective of this study was to characterize the in vitro growth of avian ovarian tumor cells, and CA125 expression in avian ovarian tumors. ⋯ Similar to human ovarian tumors, chicken ovarian tumors express CA125. Cultured chicken ovarian cancer cells express CA125 and CA125 expression does not appear to change with time in culture.

Indications for primary and secondary exenterations in patients with cervical cancer.
Fifty years after the introduction of exenterative surgery in gynecologic oncology, the indication for primary and secondary exenteration is controversially discussed in cervical cancer patients. In addition, the term "palliative exenteration" is not precisely defined. We evaluate the role of primary exenteration in patients with stage IVA cervical cancer and the role of secondary palliative exenteration. ⋯ In patients with histopathologically confirmed stage IVA cervical cancer primary, exenteration is a valid alternative to primary chemoradiation. In patients with persistent or recurrent tumor limited to the pelvis, secondary exenteration should be offered in the absence of other therapeutic options. Palliative and curative attempts can best be differentiated by the resection margin status.
