Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Effect of "collaborative requesting" on consent rate for organ donation: randomised controlled trial (ACRE trial).
To determine whether collaborative requesting increases consent for organ donation from the relatives of patients declared dead by criteria for brain stem death. ⋯ There is no increase in consent rates for organ donation when collaborative requesting is used in place of routine requesting by the patient's clinician.

Implementation of the Canadian C-Spine Rule: prospective 12 centre cluster randomised trial.
To evaluate the effectiveness of an active strategy to implement the validated Canadian C-Spine Rule into multiple emergency departments. ⋯ Implementation of the Canadian C-Spine Rule led to a significant decrease in imaging without injuries being missed or patient morbidity. Final imaging rates were much lower at intervention sites than at most US hospitals. Widespread implementation of this rule could lead to reduced healthcare costs and more efficient patient flow in busy emergency departments worldwide.

Video decision support tool for advance care planning in dementia: randomised controlled trial.
To evaluate the effect of a video decision support tool on the preferences for future medical care in older people if they develop advanced dementia, and the stability of those preferences after six weeks. ⋯ Older people who view a video depiction of a patient with advanced dementia after hearing a verbal description of the condition are more likely to opt for comfort as their goal of care compared with those who solely listen to a verbal description. They also have more stable preferences over time.

Cost effectiveness analysis of larval therapy for leg ulcers.
To assess the cost effectiveness of larval therapy compared with hydrogel in the management of leg ulcers. ⋯ Debridement of sloughy or necrotic leg ulcers with larval therapy is likely to produce similar health benefits and have similar costs to treatment with hydrogel.

Economic evaluation of arthritis self management in primary care.
To assess the cost effectiveness of a self management programme plus education booklet for arthritis in primary care. ⋯ Cost effectiveness of an arthritis self management programme is not suggested on the basis of current National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence cost perspectives and QALY thresholds. The probability of cost effectiveness is greater when broader costs and other quality of life outcomes are considered. These results suggest that the cost effectiveness of the Department of Health's expert patients programme cannot be assumed across all clinical conditions and that further rigorous evaluations for other conditions may be needed.
